Rita Monaco was
born in Gioviano, Italy in 1945, and came to
Canada in 1967 settling in Edmonton, where she
enrolled in the Fine Arts Honor Program at the
University of Alberta majoring in painting and
photography.
After a 20 year
career as a graphic artist and illustrator, she
became a full time painter and art teacher in
1993. A Vancouver resident since 1976, Rota
Monaco's variety of subject matter reflects her
eclectic personality and her many interests.
Her annual trips to
Italy, her adolescent daughter Francesca and her
garden's flowers and fruits, all provide
inspiration for her paintings.
